FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
(Radom, Poland)–As mobile phone service providers increase efforts to limit the use of the phones they sell, mobile users are seeking solutions for poor coverage and a limited range of use. Since service providers typically offer new phones at a discount, they protect their investment by requiring customers to sign a multi-year contract and by locking their phones to accept SIM cards for the provider’s network only. Using the phone outside the network requires entering a special unlock code, which service providers may or may not supply. In response to consumer demand, Sim Unlock is launching a new online phone unlocking service and free warranty checker at
According to spokesperson Jacek Brodalka, the new service can provide unlock codes for most current models of phones. “At this moment, we have over 7800 models in a database that is constantly growing,” said Brodalka. “We have codes for almost any phone our customers need to unlock.” The website’s current list of phones includes 21 major brands, like Alcatel, Blackberry, Nokia, Samsung, Sony, Motorola, LG, and Apple.
To get a code, customers just need to enter the network from which the phone was purchased and the International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) number. The website includes simple instructions for finding the IMEI number on different types of phones. The code will be returned within minutes or hours, depending on the phone. “We pride ourselves on our fast service,” said Brodalka. “If you ask one of the major carriers for a code, they could make you wait a week or more. Right now we can get an unlock code for a Blackberry in less than seven minutes. We use an automated system to make the process as quick, easy, and accurate as possible.”
Sim Unlock also offers a free warranty checker. Users can input the IMEI number and find out whether the phone is covered by a warranty and for how long. They can also get additional information about the device, including the model name, production date, carrier and the country where the phone was manufactured. This information is particularly helpful for customers who are purchasing a second-hand phone and need to make sure they know what they’re getting.
The new website, sim-unlock.net, has content available in several languages, including English, French, Spanish, and Polish. “Many of our customers travel,” added Brodalka, “and they need a phone that can travel with them. International travel can make communication a challenge. But with a SIM-unlocked phone, anyone can pick up an inexpensive pre-paid SIM card on the local network for a month of service. We feel like everyone has the right to access phone service, whether they’re traveling overseas or across town.”
