Smoked Rainbow Trout Recipe Demonstration

There are many ways in which to prepare your trout fishing catch – grilled, poached, and fried are just a few examples. One unique way to prepare trout (as well as other types of fish) is to smoke it. This will give the taste of your rainbow trout a quality that no other preparation method can provide. The following video thoroughly explains all the necessary steps to prepare smoked rainbow trout.

As you can see in the video, the fish has been marinated in dark rum. Doing this will add another succulent layer of flavor to the finished product. After the trout has marinated, make sure that they are patted dry so that the fillets are not soggy from the rum. At this point, you will be ready to start smoking your trout. In the video, cherry wood briquettes are used, but apple wood would also be a great choice. If you prefer, a cherry and apple wood blend can even be used. Allow the fish to smoke for several hours. Once it has been thoroughly cooked, your smoked rainbow trout may be served hot or cold and used in a variety of recipes!
