Trout Flies: Indispensible Flies Video

There are many different types of trout flies, but there are some types that are vital to have if you have hopes of catching a lunker! This video outlines eight essential flies to use when trout fishing. It is a great collection of fishing bait because it includes different flies for every occasion. Flies that float at several levels in the water, as well as flies of many shapes and colors are featured.

According the video, size 14 or 16 is the most common size to use for these flies; however, you may want to select a different size based on the environment in which you are fishing.

Perhaps the most critical trout fly in the bunch is the olive woolly bugger, which the video describes as being the “rubber worm” of the group. This fly can imitate nearly any type of creature in the water, making it quite versatile. The most common color of woolly bugger flies is either green or black.
